CIW is a vendor-neutral (non-company specific) certification that exemplifies Internet technologies and web authoring tools. Several tracks are offered under the same umbrella. The specific one I'm following (Master CIW Designer) focuses on in-depth issues such as online marketing, business frameworks, transaction security, databases, HTML, XML, Java applets and more.

To qualify for a Master CIW Designer, three main exams (each a 30 hour course) have to be passed with a grade of at least 75%. Click on the links to view the pdf files that detail the objectives of each (note that the CIW Foundations course is further subdivided into three seperate sections):

1. CIW Foundations (Exam 1DO - 410)

2. CIW Site Designer (Exam 1DO - 420)

3. CIW E-commerce Designer (Exam 1DO - 425)

After successfully completing the Foundations Exam, a status of CIW Associate will be established (which qualifies the candidate to pursue any other line from the CIW tracks).

I completed the foundations exam material and am scheduled to register for my test (which is due in around two weeks) - wish me luck :)
